Wolf Hoppe was born in Darmstadt in 1920 and died there in 1992. He studied at the State School for Art and Crafts in Mainz and at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, and worked as a set designer from 1938 to 1948. In 1957, he severed his previous ties and dedicated himself exclusively to painting; he created abstract-crystalline paintings of clear construction, among them the "red paintings" from 1958 to 1960. From 1959, he was a member of the Darmstadt Secession and is considered one of the most important representatives of Darmstadt art around 1960.

In the collection: "Yellow and Black".

Technique: Oil /canvas.
