Udo Nolte was born in Dortmund in 1950 and studied design at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts from 1969 to 1973; he then studied art history at Ruhr University Bochum until 1978. Since 1979, he has worked as a freelance artist, focusing on etching. From 1982 onwards, he created illustrations for Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, including for record and CD booklets. His works are distributed through galleries in Europe and North America.
