René Magritte is considered one of the main representatives of Surrealism. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, his first surrealist work, "Le jockey perdu," was created in 1926; from 1927 to 1930 he lived in Paris, then again in Brussels. Characteristic is his sober-realistic painting style, with which he places everyday objects in unsettling contexts. In 1956 he received the Guggenheim Prize for Belgium, and in 1959 he was represented at documenta II in Kassel.

In the collection: "Le Réveil-matin".

Technique: Graphic lithograph.
