From 1957 to 1961, Pierre Kröger studied applied graphics at the Werkkunstschule Darmstadt with Helmut Lortz and Fritz Fischer-Nosbisch, graduating with distinction. Until 1968, he financed his artistic work through commissions as a commercial graphic artist; thereafter, he worked as a freelance painter. His oeuvre includes oil, watercolor, pastel, and printmaking; he found the strongest resonance as a watercolorist. From 1968, he was a member of the Neue Darmstädter Sezession; in 1981, he received the Art Prize of the City of Darmstadt, and in 1984, the International Senefelder Prize for Lithography.
