Kurt Mühlenhaupt was one of Berlin's painter-poets and became known as a milieu painter of Kreuzberg, where he lived and worked from 1958 to 1975. His artistic world moves between naive painting and Expressionism, primarily depicting portraits from working-class environments and Berlin cityscapes. In addition to oil painting, watercolor, and pastel, he also created prints, drawings, sculptures, and ceramics.
