Heinrich Richter was a German painter and graphic artist. After losing his right arm in World War II, he continued to work with his left hand and studied from 1948 to 1955 at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Berlin under Karl Hofer and Hans Orlowski. He became known, among other things, for his illustrations for Günter Grass' "The Tin Drum," published in 1968. In 1969, he received the Berlin Art Prize, and in 1975, he was an honored guest at the Villa Massimo in Rome.
