Hans Bellmer (1902 Kattowitz – 1975 Paris) began studying at the Technical University of Berlin in 1923, and through his travels to Paris, he came into contact with Dadaism and Surrealism. Between 1933 and 1938, he created his series of works entitled The Doll: a self-made, ball-jointed, movable figure that he photographed and published in the surrealist magazine Le Minotaure in 1934. In 1935, he moved to Paris, joined André Breton's group, and participated in their exhibitions. His later work consists primarily of drawings and prints, especially drypoint etchings.
In the collection: "Tête à la rose".
Technique: Drypoint etching.
