Ferdinand Barth (1902 Darmstadt – 1979 Lautertal) received his initial training from Adolf Beyer, then studied for two years at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and from 1924 at Carl von Marr's painting school in Munich. He worked as a landscape and portrait painter, scientific illustrator, restorer, and muralist. Barth left behind an extensive, numbered oeuvre with more than 10,000 entries.
