Eduard Bargheer (1901–1979) was born on the Elbe island of Finkenwerder and attended the Hamburg School of Applied Arts on Lerchenfeld. In 1929, he became a member of the Hamburg Secession; a scholarship enabled him to spend an extended period in Paris in 1933. After two of his watercolors were shown in the Degenerate Art exhibition in 1937 and works were confiscated from the Hamburger Kunsthalle, he went to Italy in 1939 and lived in Forio on Ischia from 1947. From 1950, he spent the winters in Hamburg and the rest of the time on Ischia; between 1960 and 1968, he undertook numerous trips to North Africa.

In the collection: "Battle Scene with Archers", "Hellas II".

Technique: Etching-steel engraving.
