Born in Barcelona in 1923, Antoni Tàpies is considered the most important representative of Art Informel in Spain. His heavily textured works incorporated everyday objects, sand, paint, and marble dust; he saw himself as a realist exploring reality, not as an abstract painter. In addition to painting, his oeuvre, comprising some 8,000 signed works, includes extensive printmaking and sculpture. He died in Barcelona in 2012.
In the collection: "Nocturn Matinal", "Frègoli".
